Bethel New York’s Commission

“In light of our mandate to be catalysts for global revival that leads to reformation, Bethel recognizes that apostolic cities shape the mindsets of nations. While the enemy would seek to use their influence and giftings to export a message of darkness around the globe, we believe God has a greater plan.

New York City is an apostolic city, designed by God to influence global mindsets and mold cultural values—a city our movement has felt led to cover in prayer and ministry for more than a decade.

In Acts 16, the great Apostle Paul had a powerful spiritual experience in which he had a vision in the night. A man from Macedonia was standing and appealing to him saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.” (Acts 16:9-10)

Joel and Sarah Power had a very similar experience a few years ago in which they felt called by God to plant a church in New York City. The Bethel Senior Leadership Team, too, has been led by the Spirit to send them out as a Bethel Church plant this year to establish an apostolic center to equip a community of believers for revival—right in the center of this great city!

We believe that this team will have a massive impact on the nations over the next 50 years as we partner together to awaken the world to the love and power of Christ and the superior benefits of the kingdom of God.

Therefore, we are commissioning Joel and Sarah Power, and their team, to this mission and sending them with our hearts and resources to New York. Please join your hearts with ours in this most epic endeavor, and let us shift the course of history toward our King and His beautiful kingdom!

“I am excited for Bethel New York, and for Joel and Sarah to fulfill their dream. I believe this is something they have carried in their hearts for a while, and there is a grace on their lives for it. I believe there’s also grace for New York—that great, amazing city—to receive an even fuller impact for the kingdom of God. New York is crying out for people like Joel and Sarah and their team to come and bring the kingdom.”
